How to live more colourfully

How to live more colourfully

You may have noticed that I like to live life with the saturation turned up. My clothes, my hair, my lipstick… So when Feel Good Contacts invited me to try their range of coloured prescription lenses, I jumped at the chance.

I’ve been wearing contacts for more than ten years, and I’ve been shopping with Feel Good Contacts for over a year now. After a decade of buying my lenses through my local optician I felt a bit apprehensive about purchasing them online, but relocating meant I didn’t have much choice. Since shopping with Feel Good Contacts I wouldn’t go back (sorry opticians!). The lenses are affordable, high quality, and posted out really quickly.

I’ve always been intrigued by coloured lenses. Not because I don’t like my eyes (I love my eyes #sorrynotsorry) but because coloured contacts can enhance your natural iris shade. You know me – anything to make my look ‘pop’!

Here I’m wearing the SofLens Natural Colors Contacts in ’emerald’. I’ve avoided playing with the saturation too much. Seriously, that’s the colour of my eyes in these lenses! It’s like my own colour, only ‘more’.

Trying these lenses got me thinking about other ways I work colour into my life. People often tell me they admire my style but feel too nervous to embrace a rainbow look themselves.

Colour makes me happy, so I like to surround myself with everything bright and beautiful. Here’s my top tips for embracing a more colourful life.

Experiment with your make-up
I have a lipstick in pretty much every colour imaginable, from bright red, to purple, but for this look I decided to experiment with my eye make-up instead. You don’t need to go full-on peacock (though that would be ace, I must try it!) but even soft eyeshadow pulling out the shades of your outfit will brighten up your whole look. I’m also a big believer in wearing black and white with a statement lip. So simple, yet so stylish!

Throw out the rule book
‘Blue and green must never be seen’, ‘red is only for Christmas’, ‘pink and red don’t go’… forget these arbitrary rules and get experimenting! The first time I trialled purple and orange together my life changed. For. Ever. You know what they say – more is more, right?!

Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise!
Coco Channel always advised to take off the last thing you put on before leaving the house. I prefer Iris Apfel’s motto of adding another thing on. I thought this outfit was complete… until I saw the scarf hanging over my clothes rail and tried it. If you fancy dipping your toe into the rainbow pond then you’re in luck: coloured accessories are a big deal right now. A bright handbag or pair of colourful tasseled earrings can amplify a simple look.

Add more colour into the every day
Minimalism may be all the rage for home interiors right now, but honestly I’m over it! I decorate my room with rainbow bedsheets and colourful faux flowers, and I love bright paintings. I write in vibrant notebooks and drink my tea from a colourful mug. Personally, I find surrounding myself with sunshine shades really does brighten my day.

Wear the rainbow and embrace a more colourful life – you won’t regret it!
