Alice’s monthly mission: December

Alice’s monthly mission: December

It’s Chriiiiistmaaaaas! Well, almost Christmas. Usually I’m more of a Grinch than a festive elf, but I can honestly say this year I am SO excited for Christmas. For my monthly mission this December, I’m going to focus on really making the most of the festive period with family and friends.

2017 has been a heck of a year, both for good and bad. I moved to London, and only eight months later found myself relocating to Manchester. I’ve learnt a lot about myself, and grown my blog in ways I never expected in the space of a year. I’ve also made the leap (somewhat unintentionally) into the freelance world. Needless to say I’ve had a lot to process!

December is a stressful time for me in terms of lining up work to see my through into the new year, but it’s also a time full of excitement and joy. I’ve realised that I’ve only seen my family for a total of 15 days this year, so spending a whole week with them in my hometown (albeit in a brand new house I’ve never been to – weird I know!) is going to be amazing.

Christmas is also a great time to be a blogger. I’ve already been to a few lovely festive events (like with Joanie clothing) and content ideas are easy to come by. Yay for Christmas markets and party dress edits!

However, as many wonderful things as December has to bring, for the past few years I’ve totally let them pass me by. I’ve either been wrapped up in Uni assignments or stressing over a big move, and working Monday-Friday 9-5.30 has previously zapped most of my time and festive spirit. This year I’m going to make the most of it.

Here’s what I’m going to do this month to make Christmas 2017 a magical one-

Do all the festive stuff at home
Believe it or not, since moving out to go to uni I have never, repeat never, put up any Christmas decorations. When I lived in student halls or by myself I didn’t really see the point, but this year I’m very excited to decorate the fake tree my housemate and I have bought. Other festive things I will be doing include drinking from my Santa mug daily, and watching all the festive films on Netflix. Ho ho ho!

Go out and make the most of it
As a freelancer, I won’t get a Christmas party *sniff*, so I’m going to go out to as many events and other festive activities as possible to make up for it. All those sparkly dresses have to get an outing at some point, right? Now, someone pass me the prosecco…

Record the memories
I recently treated myself to a fancy new DSLR (for business purposes, you understand) and I want to use it this month to record all the wonderful moments ahead, from drinking glühwein at the Christmas market, to opening presents with my family on Christmas day. I’m tempted to put my vlogging pants back on and record some video footage as well this festive season.

Have an amazing December, lovelies!

I’m definitely trying to embrace all the festive this year too! I often go away at Christmas but I’m not this year so it’s a nice chance to catch up on myself! x
