Winter knitwear trends: my Shein wishlist

Winter knitwear trends: my Shein wishlist

While most people may be delighted when winter comes around so they can get into some cosy jumpers, I’ve never really been one for knitwear. But 2017’s winter knitwear trends have caused me to rethink.

We’re talking statement sleeves, pearls and embellishment galore. Throw in some autumn shades like burgundy and forest green, and I am there.

I was asked by Shein to put together my winter wishlist, and something tells me it might soon be your wishlist too.

Let’s first have a quick chat about Shein. This Chinese brand is a blogger favourite, but I know a lot of people have reservations about purchasing from the site. Is it genuine? Are the clothes good quality? Will my order take weeks to arrive?

I had these reservations too. After ordering a variety of items from China on eBay with varying results, I really didn’t get my hopes up. But I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised! Both my faux fur coat that I got from Shein and this burgundy jumper are great quality. They also arrived by Royal Mail (seriously) with a tracking number, in around eight days.

I would be wary of sizes, however. I got this jumper in a medium and it fits my size 8 frame perfectly. I recommend reading the reviews of the items as fellow shoppers post photos of themselves in their purchases for a rough size guide.

So let’s talk winter knitwear trends. The main thing I’m seeing everywhere is embellishment, which is right up my street. I love the understated star embellishment on the middle jumper. Its fine knit would be perfect tucked into a jazzy skirt or some faux leather trousers. Meanwhile, the faux fur and jewelled cuffs of the jumper on the right is a showstopper all on its own. But wear other things with it, obvs. It’s cold out there.

Another winter knitwear trend that’s impossible to ignore is embroidery. I liked how understated yet pretty the floral sleeves are on the lefthand jumper. Chuck it on with your favourite jeans and a pom pom beanie and you have a super comfy outfit that’s also on trend.

Let’s talk sleeves. Statement sleeves are everywhere for winter 2017 and it doesn’t get more statement than these sequin bell sleeves on the left. There is a risk you’ll dip them in your soup, but I think it’s a great buy nonetheless.

Arguably the biggest trend for winter 2017 is pearl embellishment. Pearls are EVERYWHERE. I really love the deep forest green colour and twist detailing on the middle jumper. Team with some vinyl leggings and some oversized pearl earrings for a winning outfit.

Lastly, I’ve seen a lot of throwbacks to eighties knitwear this season. The pink and orange patch jumper on the right reminds me of jumpers worn by my mum when I was little (disclaimer: I was born in the nineties but my mum keeps her jumpers FOR EVER). The giant sequin detailing keeps the look of the jumper more glam than ‘I’m just painting the spare room’.

What knitwear trends are you obsessed with for winter 2017?

I was gifted the jumper in this post. However, all views are my own.

This jumper looks amazing on you! I just bought a grey embellished one to add to my collection, but I can’t wait to get some new Christmas jumpers xx

Thank you! I am aaaaalll about embellishment and the trend for it on knitwear is the best in my opinion! But can’t beat a cheesy Christmas jumper 🙂

Brb, off on a mini shopping spree!
That being said – how is the fit for clothing from here?

Haha! Just give me aaaaaallll the dresses! I ordered the playsuit in my usual size (8) and found it fit very comfortably. I was a bit nervous as I have a big bum and often playsuit type things don’t fit at all but this felt great. If anything I’d say it runs slightly large. I couldn’t comment on the other styles though!
