Autumn orange: taking my summer favourites into the new season

Hey guys, I’m just back from Miami! Nah, just kidding – these photos were taken in a particularly tropical-looking corner of Spinningfields in Manchester.

But apart from giving me serious holiday cravings, as I stood next to this luscious backdrop wearing my favourite summery blazer, I got thinking about the unspoken fashion rules about what to wear when.

It’s autumn, which means we need to wrap up in big coats, right? And all our summer brights must give way to more muted tones. And nude suede shoes? I’ve got to be joking!

Now it’s no secret I do love a big faux fur coat, but as for the rest, well you know me- I’ve never been one for fashion rules.

The only ‘rule’ I am a big believer in is getting the most out of your clothes. I always feel like a girl boss when I wear this bold blazer by Mandi Candi, and while previously I’ve styled this as a more formal look, I wanted to make use of it for the everyday.

Really, this was a very lazy outfit. I threw a bunch of my favourite clothes together and they happened to go together beautifully. The joys of having an obsession for orange!

With shops stocking up on new season items months in advance (seriously, who is looking for a chunky coat in August?) I often feel like by the time autumn/winter actually comes around, I’m already kind of over it. I really enjoyed pretending it was summer for just a bit longer.

The whole blazer/ mom jean combo is perfect for afternoon drinks or food with friends. Not only is it super comfy but it looks very polished with minimum effort.

This autumn/winter, don’t feel constrained by what you ‘should’ or ‘shouldn’t’ wear. As much as I do love burgundy at this time of year, I’ll also be stocking up on a plethora of orange garments to fuel my year-round obsession.

Here’s to wearing what we want, when we want!
