Five independent designers you need to know about

Five independent designers you need to know about

If you’ve explored much of my blog then you’ll know I really love to support indie brands.

I’m always scouring social media to bring you the next names you’re going to want to know about. And these five? They’re going to be pretty big.

Mary Benson

Leeds-born designer Mary Benson has been a force to be reckoned with in London for several years now, with her catwalk shows even featuring on vogue.com. But good news for us mere mortals – Mary’s glorious prints will be adorning a range of accessories available from Asos from October. Those glittery gold platforms are FIRMLY on my wish list.

Chandler Warren Designs

Design partners and life partners Connor and Cam are the kings of neo-Jacobean fashion (yes that’s totes a thing; I didn’t just make it up. Maybe). The duo use animal skins and fur that would otherwise be discarded to create fur trims and their statement circular bags. And with some pieces taking over 400 hours to create, this label really is a labour of love. Shop their designs here.

Studio Five UK

Speaking of designer duos, sisters Lucy and Kitty are next on the list with their label Studio Five. The sisters are really passionate about environmental issues, and their beautiful printed t-shirts and make-up bags are a great way to show you are too. Head to their website to watch their fashion film and support their crowdfunding campaign, or visit the Scottish Design Exchange to see their designs.

Syd and Mallory

Mesh and embroidery are BIG right now, and Syd and Mallory are serving up both. I’ve been majorly crushing on this brand since I saw their designs featured on Mandi Candi Boutique’s website. You’ll find more of their pieces on ASOS marketplace, such as these Gucci-inspired snake print designs.

I came across Olivia Rose through my blogger friend Ruth from Urbanity and I’ve been obsessing over the contemporary designs ever since. These elasticated bardot-style blouses are so on trend, and as each piece is handmade to order you’ll really be buying something special. Now to get one in every colour, please…

I like Studio Five UK. Lucy and Kitty are really passionate about environmental issues. It can weak up the people’s awareness of environment-friendly.
