Summer is here! A glorious day in Covent Garden

Finally, summer is here! In Scotland it was rare to have a ‘proper’ summer, but recently in London it’s been a real scorcher.

A trip to Covent Garden served as the perfect opportunity to show off my new favourite sun dress.

Dress: Nobody’s Child; Bag: Anna Smith; Sandals: Deichmann

I met my blogger friend Ruth from Urbanity, who kindly took the beautiful photos you can see in this post. It wasn’t easy getting good shots on such a sunny day (ahh, the catch 22 of shooting summer styles!) though thankfully we found these beautiful flowers in the shade.

I’m trying to be more playful with my clothing choices these days. I’ve been a big fan of novelty handbags since the trend began, but they are rarely practical enough for real life. I love this quirky pineapple clutch by Anna Smith, as it’s big enough to fit everything I need while still being fun. And, as Ruth pointed out, Mr Pineapple’s sunglasses match mine!

Let’s take a moment to appreciate this fab watermelon print dress from Nobody’s Child. I’m so not used to nice weather that my wardrobe is pretty low on summer clothing. When I saw this perfect sun dress I knew it was a great investment.

It’s so lightweight and comfortable. I love the added detail from the tie back too. I made sure to wear plenty of sun cream though to avoid awkward tan lines…

Eyelashes: Unicorn Lashes; Sunglasses: Primark

This look to me makes me think of 1960s Miami- it’s a little bit retro, a little bit kitsch and full of summer vibes. I’ve been a big fan of beehive style hairdos lately, mainly because they are perfect for days when I can’t be bothered to wash my hair!

I’ve also been loving wearing false lashes. These amazing ones are by Unicorn Lashes. I love the drama they bring to a look.

Enjoy the sun everyone!
