A modern classic: Wearing vintage monochrome

A modern classic: Wearing vintage monochrome

I’ve always been cautious of monochrome. It can feel a bit ‘businessy’.

But it can also look really classy. Inspired by retro Chanel, I put this look together for a sophisticated afternoon tea in Paddington.

I built this outfit around this fabulous skirt from Hunted Vintage. This is a premium vintage company run by the lovely Nicole Perry, who uses her finely tuned vintage eye to source one of a kind pieces from across Europe. I loved the on-trend ruffles on this piece.

Despite my slight phobia of wearing too much black (as I discussed in this post) I knew I wanted to keep this look simple and classic.

This sleeveless polo neck jumper has been a staple in my wardrobe for years. I’m quite prone to a high neck top, but this style is nice and cool for summer sun.

It’s rare for me to choose such a classic look these days (fire-inspired fashion, anyone?) but the beautiful white stucco houses in Paddington served as the perfect backdrop for this outfit.

Of course, it wouldn’t be an Alice outfit without a statement necklace. I picked this one up about a year ago and the ornate vibes felt like the perfect finish.

Summer is a great time to play with bright colours and bold fabrics, but just sometimes it’s nice to go back to¬†classic cool.

So go on- switch it up this summer!
