My Princess Moment: Why I love tulle skirts

Ever since I saw Carrie Bradshaw sashay round the Upper East Side in a tulle ballerina skirt, I have been desperately searching for the perfect tutu.

Finally I found it.

What does one wear a tutu to (hehehe) I hear you say? Well, anything! I believe a full, tulle skirt is not the reserve of wedding guests and ballerinas. If Carrie can rock one casually, so can I (and you too!)

But to get away with such a bold piece as part of my everyday ensemble, the skirt had to be perfect. I have searched for years for The One- it had to be exactly knee length, not too puffy and just the right shade of ballerina pink. I really love the dusky purple tutus too (still not getting old), but I think they definitely look best on brunettes.

If you’re going to wear such a full skirt casually, the top half really must be streamlined. Bodysuits are perfect, and create a real ballerina vibe! I teamed mine with some ankle boots and a cropped leather jacket (which was too hot to wear come the afternoon).

But tulle skirts are not just for the height of summer. I look forward to wearing mine with a grey cashmere jumper tucked in for autumn, maybe with some polkadot tights too. Of course, this would also be perfect for a night out with a cute bralet and some killer heels.

Who knew such a bold skirt could be so versatile?

If in doubt- wear it anyway!
