Steak and Shoes: How I spent my Friday night

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to try out new Edinburgh restaurant, Steak on Stones, on Friday night.

Now I might be a vegetarian/ occasional pescetarian, but any novel dining experience and I’ve got to get involved. Also, ¬†excuse to plan an outfit! So after checking they served up more than raw steak (they did, yay!) I took the man along for a feed.

The Look

So first, things first- the look. For Valentine’s I was given a beautiful pair of cobalt Carvelas and I hadn’t had a chance to wear them. I styled my outfit around them (even though I can never get my shoes in my pictures ffs).

I absolutely love this statement jacket that I picked up last summer. I decided to make it the focus of my outfit so kept the rest simple.

These high-waisted jeans from ASOS are my absolute favourite! They show off my ghetto booty and help suck in my waist- both definite plusses in my book. However, I was definitely feeling the strain round my tummy after dinner. Maybe I should have made the most of the sports luxe trend right now and rocked up in some sweatpants? Nah.

The Food

So here’s the concept- you order matured Orkney steak in multiples of 200g and whichever sides and sauces appeal, then your meat is taken to your table along with a hot granite slab. Pretty cool, no? I was told the meat was really delicious, although I obviously can’t verify this myself.

I went for the fish and chips which was beautiful! The batter was lovely and light yet crispy. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Sides-wise I went for chilli greens which is how I think all my veggies should be from now on- fresh, flavoursome, and just a little spicy. Steak on Stones also offers smoked cheese mac and I was very tempted by its cheesy goodness as well. Ugh, I just love food far too much (hence the ghetto booty).

Be sure to save space for dessert- on offer are huge, sugary doughnuts with either custard, jam, apple or fudge filling. They positively ooze.
